How to Host an Avon Party

Avon parties are an informal and fun way to get to know your customers, build your customer base, increase your earnings, and build a loyal community around your brand. You can host your own Avon party either online or at home by sending out invites, gathering supplies, setting up a display, breaking the ice with guests, and directing them to order forms when they try out the products.

By using Direct Sidekick’s Avon inventory software for consultants, you can easily track which products you need to promote more, which ones need urgent reorders, and track all other income. This will make preparing for your party–along with any other Avon selling strategies you might implement–easier than ever.

In this post, we’ll walk you through planning your own expert Avon party step-by-step.

Host Online or In-Person

First, you need to decide if you are going to host your Avon party virtually or in-person. Virtual parties were very popular during the pandemic when in-person events were difficult to organize, but the best time to host virtual events now is with loyal, repeat customers.

You can pose the event as a ‘special offer’ or ‘exclusive look’ on new products as a reward for your customers’ loyalty. This works best with customers who often buy your products when approached.

In-person events are ideal for growing your customer base and generating same-day sales. We recommend hosting in your own home, as this can save you time and business expenses. If a friend or a customer hosts the party, be sure to offer them a discount, a gift, and provide light refreshments.

Send Out Invites

Facebook is one of the best Avon marketing tools because you can create event pages and easily invite guests from your Facebook contact list. Invite your friends and encourage them to bring a plus-one to the party; this can also grow your customer base.

Invitations should be sent out at least one week before the party. We also recommend posting a reminder on your event page or sending out a reminder email the night before to all attendees. This can help increase guest turnout.

Gather Supplies

A party is still a party, so be sure to have all of the materials you need! This includes light refreshments, such as tea, coffee, cookies, chips, or even a glass of wine or two for each guest. Refreshments incentivize guests to come and make themselves comfortable. Having a party theme is a great way to make the party fun.

Next, have plenty of Avon brochures and order forms. It’s best to have a few extras of each on hand in case a guest wants to share the information with someone who couldn’t attend the party. Use a dining table to set up your product display.

It’s important to have supplies for when guests sample the products. Keep cotton swabs, cotton balls, and tissues readily available and easy to access.

Break the Ice

While sales are a major part of the Avon party, you also want your customers to feel connected to both you and the product. Ease into things with some light party games, like Celebrity Couples or the Secrets Game (both available on the Avon website). Include gifts and prizes for winners so they feel compelled to purchase a product to complement their prizes or to come to your next party!

Keep It Focused

Once the drinks are poured and people are chatting, you can start introducing guests to the display table. Compliment them, encourage them to sample the products, and remind them to write down the products they like on their order forms. Don’t try to sell every product available from Avon. Pick your favorites, new products, and your best sellers.

Have a Check Out Process

After an hour or so, the party will start winding down, and it’s time to collect order slips. Invite your guests into a separate space to make their purchase. The kitchen table is a great place for this. Ask them what they’d like to order, offer complimentary products, and finally, ask if they’d like to host a party as well.
